The federal government of Canada has officially constructed a three year immigration plan that will bring in approximately 340,000 foreigners into the country. The 13% increase will be the largest intake since before the First World War. The gradual increase over time will allow the system to adjust as the population goes up.
Senior Vice President of the Conference Board of Canada, Craig Alexander went into details about why the increase is being planned multiple years ahead of time:
"Canada's decision to increase immigration will help sustain long-term economic growth in light of its rapidly aging population and low birth rate. Introducing a multi-year levels plan will improve the ability of governments, employers, immigrant-serving organizations and other important stakeholders to successfully integrate newcomers into Canada’s economy and society."
Canada is known for its diversity and continues to place great importance on immigration. Way to go Canada!
