First, women in Saudi Arabia had the green light to drive in the kingdom and now they are allowed to attend sports stadiums! With a soccer match between Al-Ahli and Al-Batin fast approaching, women will officially be allowed in for the game on Friday, January 12th. There are several other soccer matches that are happening this month in Saudi Arabia that are open to all!
The kingdom is known to have the most strict rules in the world and segregates women in public, so this is a big step for gender equality in Saudi Arabia. Three venues that used to be male-only have lifted the ban, which include King Fadh International Stadium, King Abdullah Sports City, and Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium. It looks like Saudi Arabia is heading in the right direction for women one step at a time.
