Vikram Seth’s ‘A Suitable Boy’ Is Going To Be On BBC

2063
The BBC is set out to screen it's first period drama featuring an entirely non-white cast. After securing the rights to A Suitable Boy, Vikram Seth's best known work, BBC has decided to stick to a non-white cast and stay true to the characters within the novel.

The novel is being adapted into an eight-part series written by the one and only Andrew Davies. The screenwriter is well appreciated for his adaptations for the small screen, one of the most notable ones was Pride and Prejudice that was serialized in 1995. Filming begins later this year and the drama will take on the Sunday evening slot on BBC.

A Suitable Boy, is set in the heart of India and follows the story of a mother's determined efforts to marry off her younger daughter. The story is a 20th century classic, obviously set outside of the UK, in a world highly non-British and yet encompasses larger universal themes many can relate to.

Will A Suitable Boy become a part your Sunday routine? Let us know!
