The Golden Globe Awards made many headlines this morning! This award season was all about activism and many actors made history with their wins. It was inspiring to see so many people in the film industry coming together to use status and power for the greater good. There were several highlights that made the night unforgettable. - Oprah's Remarkable Speech
Oprah was the first African-American woman to win the Cecil B. de Mille Award at the Golden Globes, which honors a significant person who has made a huge impact on the entertainment industry. Oprah addressed the sexual harassment issues in Hollywood and the abuse hardworking women in general face on a daily basis. Inspiring or what?
- Debra Messing actually addressed Catt Sadler's inequality experience with E! news live on the red carpet!
In a live interview, the Will & Grace star exposed the wage gap that still occurs between male and female co-hosts that work for E!.
- Aziz Ansari wins the Best Comedy Actor award
Aziz made history with his award win, being the first South Asian-American winner at the Golden Globes!
- Many celebrities brought activists as dates!
The red carpet is always filled with celebrities, but this year women brought activists as dates in support of their efforts to make change. The founder of the #metoo campaign, Tarana Burke, accompanied Michelle Williams and Meryl Streep walked alongside Ai-jen Poo, the director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance.
- Women wore black as a statement for those who were victims of sexual harassment in Hollywood.
Countless celebrities stunned in black gowns and suits in support of the women and men in the industry that came forward with sexual harassment stories to make change.
The night is always glamorous, however, this time around the inspiring events of the night made it an award show that will go down in history.
