The Women in the World Summit took place in Toronto for the first time on September 11, 2017. A number of  activists, authors, CEO's, and artists are gathering together to discuss women's global issues and to have a place for women to share their inspiring stories. Tina Brown, the founder of the summit and The Daily Beast, co-hosted throughout the day. Brown chose Toronto this year because she believes Canada is a very inclusive place when it comes to female diversity and women in politics.

Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, was interviewed and discussed how the importance of gender issues is not mentioned among many political leaders in the world. Trudeau believes everyone should have an equal opportunity, which was made clear when he made Canada have a gender-equal cabinet.
