Miss World Title Back in India After 17 Years!

It was a long time coming.

On November 18th, Manushi Chhillar,20, from India won Miss World 2017. The title of Miss World came back to India after 17 long years - Priyanka Chopra won Miss World in the year 2000.

During the 67th edition of the Miss World pageant, Manushi Chhillar was crowned the new Miss world by Miss World 2016 Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle at Sanya City Arena in China. The first and second runners-up were Miss England, Stephanie Hill and Miss Mexico, Andrea Meza.

During her acceptance speech, she made it a point to thank everyone for their prayers, support and love during this journey.

Originally from Haryana state in India, Manushi comes from a family of doctors and is currently studying to become a cardiac surgeon herself - she is in her third year of medicine. Both her parents who were present during the pageant in China are doctors. She is a talented poet, dancer and painter and plans to complete her studies while she had taken one year break for this pageant. She is working on a project about menstrual hygiene as well.

It was a proud moment not only for her family but the entire nation. Social media was abuzz with this news. Priyanka  Chopra, former Miss World 2000, also congratulated Manushi on twitter for winning the title and advised her to cherish, learn and enjoy the title.
