Many US citizens have suggested the arrest of the comedian on the basis that she threatened the president's safety. Threats "knowingly and willfully" made against the president, president-elect, vice president or vice president-elect are a class E felony under federal law.
Griffin has since apologized and even released a video to confirm that she understands that this wasn't funny and taken way out of line.
"I'm a comic," she said. "I cross the line. I move the line, then I cross it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn't funny. I get it."
I am sorry. I went too far. I was wrong. pic.twitter.com/LBKvqf9xFB— Kathy Griffin (@kathygriffin) May 30, 2017
In your opinion, is this joke just a joke taken too seriously or were the reactions completely deserving?
