Sarah Jessica Parker Likes to Smell Her Shoes

889
By Mai Hakkaku …when they’re new, we assume.  The Sex and the City star is a known shoeaholic, and when news broke earlier this year that Parker would be designing a shoe line, no one seemed surprised. According to Fashionista.com at a preview of the line, she invited editors to smell the shoes. "She loves the smell of shoes," Manolo's President George Malkemus and Sarah's business partner shared. She further explained: "You know that makes a difference, when a shoe isn't well-made, it doesn't smell good," Parker explained. "Not that it really matters…but all those details really add up." So what kind of details can we expect in her new collection? "I really wanted to bring back the single sole,” she shared, "What I really wanted to do was give those colors, regardless of the trends, to women in beautiful shapes, and at affordable prices. But still keep the quality. Because if we're talking about a few hundred dollars, those are hard-earned bucks, and they better be good." Single Sole: This actually seems appropriate, given that Manolo Blahnik exclusively makes single sole shoes, and that they tend to be more classic and timeless. Color: Her shoes will not be simple. Instead, there will be a variety of colors that include asparagus, cherry, dove gray and her special version of navy. Price: In one famous episode, Carrie Bradshaw said: 'I've spent $40,000 on shoes and I have no place to live? I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes!' Unlike Carrie's expensive footwear weaknesses, which pushed her to the brink of bankruptcy, SJP’s shoes will range in price from $150 to $400. Although not exactly cheap, this is a more accessible price range for most. Parker also named each shoe. And of course, one is called the “Carrie.” It’s a pointy-toe t-strap pump; Parker made a point to fit the ankle strap lower down the ankle so “it doesn’t chop your legin half.” They are landing early next year, unfortunately, pictures are currently unavailable. Use your imagination for now.
