Macy’s 86th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade

Today is the day that America gives thanks. Thanksgiving in the US is much bigger and maybe more celebrated then ours here in Canada. And with everything that has happen over the past little while, especially in New York and New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy, there is much to be thankful for. Like any good tradition that we may have, in New York the tradition of Thanksgiving means only one thing: the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. This year marked the 86th anniversary of the parade, and like every other year, this parade was nothing less then a sure crowd pleaser. The city may have just gone through turmoil but that doesn’t mean the parade wouldn’t happen, like the saying says “the show much go on.” With the sky high street wide air balloon floats cruising the street of New York, viewers came out early this morning to get a good seat before the 9am parade took place. There were 7 new floats that were made for this year’s parade, along with a new route. Some of the new themes for the floats were “Goldfish” (the lovable cracker) and everyone’s favorite “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. The parade is a great start to the holiday weekend, Happy Thanksgiving America.
