Kim and Kanye Say “I Do”

On Sunday May 25, Kim Kardashian’s publicist told CNN that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West officially tied the knot at Fort di Belvedere in Florence, Italy, on Saturday May 24. Possibly one of the most talked about celebrity couples, it is rumoured that the romance was years in the making. There was an apparent mutual interest for a number of years but the interest was never realized due to relationships or ill timing. The stars finally aligned and the couple first appeared as an item at Paris Fashion Week in March 2012. The following year, Kim gave birth to their daughter, North, in June 2013. In September, Kanye expressed his love for Kim to the BBC. He stated, “She gave me everything. She gave me a family. She gave me a support system.” It seemed that the couple could not get any happier until Kanye publicly got down on one knee at AT&T Park in San Francisco in October 2013. Kanye proposed to Kim with a big screen, fireworks, and a 50-piece orchestra playing in the background. Kim’s engagement ring was a stunning 15-carat diamond that was custom designed by Lorraine Schwartz. With that dramatic proposal, we could not expect anything less than extravagant for the couple’s wedding. The weekend opened with a brunch hosted by fashion designer Valentino, in Paris. During the brunch, it was reported that the couple’s daughter said her first words. Andre Leon Tally, Vogue’s contributing editor, recounted the moment when North looked over at her father and said ‘Pa’. Later that evening, the wedding party moved to the Palace of Versailles for a private tour and rehearsal dinner. Guests were greeted with horses and women dressed in Mari Antoinette outfits. The palace was decorated with pink peonies, white and red roses, and snapdragons. To top off the night, the guests were treated to a beautiful display of fireworks. The guests were also surprised with a performance by Lana Del Ray. versaille The couple then flew guests to Florence for the wedding ceremony. People magazine reported that Kanye chartered two private jets and booked 50 cars to shuttle guests to their hotel rooms. The 16th century fortress was decorated with a mountain of flower arrangements that included bushels of tuberose, which are extremely rare this time of year. Tuberoses are also renowned for their beautiful unique scent.   Kim-Kanye-Forte-di-Belvedere_596x334 Kim walked down the aisle in a Givenchy Haute Couture gown by her stepfather Bruce Jenner as Andrea Bocelli sang “Con te Partiro”. The lace gown was form fitting, long-sleeved, and had sheer panels on the back. Kanye wore a classic black and white tuxedo by Givenchy. The couple exchanged custom weddings rings that were handmade by Lorraine Schwartz. E! Online reported that the Kim’s band consists of all diamonds and Kayne’s band is complete gold. The couple shared their vows in front of 600 guests. kim For the wedding reception, Kim changed into a short, white beaded Balmain mini-dress.  The dress was styled with pearls, crystals, and a plunging neckline. Kanye reportedly stopped the music so that everyone could witness Kim’s entrance. For the couple first dance, Kanye himself ended the dance with a short rap. Some noted absences were Kim’s brother Rob Kardashian. Rob had attended the pre-wedding festivities in Paris but returned to Los Angeles after a rumoured argument with Kim over his weight. Kim’s stepbrother Brody Jenner was also absent. It is said that he did not attend the wedding on account of his girlfriend not getting an invitation. Other absences included Kanye’s friend Jay Z and wife Beyoncé. Some notable attendants included director Steve McQueen, singer John Legend, designer Rachel Roy, Editor-at-Large Andre Leon Talley, and record producer Rick Rubin. Although this was not Kim’s first wedding we hope this will be her last. We wish the best to the happy couple. Kim-Kanye-North-486x326
