Cory Monteith: An Inspiration Who Will Truly Be Missed

By Harpreet Brar On July 13, 2013, Cory Monteith, beloved Canadian actor who starred in the television show, Glee, was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room. 31 is just an age that is too young to leave the world. While the cause of death is still unknown, Monteith's death is nonetheless shocking and very sudden which has left his heartbroken family, friends, and fans a feeling of emptiness. There's a certain unsettling feeling that seems to linger throughout the people who have known Monteith for a lifetime, all the way to people who have never even met him. Maybe this is because Monteith is making international headlines and what everyone seems to be gathering from these are that he was nothing but an inspiration, and the love and perseverance in him seemed to shine through. Monteith struggled from age 13 with substance abuse and had entered into rehabilitation at age 19. The actor entered and completed a period at a rehabilitation center once again just a short three months ago in April 2013 and appeared to be on the right track to become a healthier person. At the time, his longtime girlfriend and co-star, Lea Michele, said to People, "I love and support Cory and will stand by him. I am grateful and proud he made this decision." And of course, Michele stuck to her word by staying by his side throughout his recovery -- proving to be his biggest supporter. “No one knows me better than Cory,” Michele told Marie Clare in an interview in January 2013. “No one knows what it’s been like to go through this more than he does. Feeling like you have that net underneath you allows you to jump higher and go farther. He makes me feel like I can do anything.” The strong bond between the inseparable pair was about to be made even stronger when reports came out that the two were planning to move in together in Michele's LA home after Monteith returned from Vancouver. Our heart goes out to Cory's loved ones. He was an inspiration that will truly be missed.
