Nawazuddin and Niharika worked together on the 2009 movie Miss Lovely. In the post Niharika had expressed that the two became quite close during filming and that the connection was unlike any of the other superficial romances she had experienced in the past. She reveals that one morning after she had invited him over for breakfast he grabbed her, "I tried to push him away but he wouldn't let go. After a little coercion, I finally gave in. I wasn't sure what to make of this relationship," she adds. The two eventually started dating but split due to, as she explains "his constant lying". She then goes on to call Nawazuddin a "sexually repressed Indian man"
