Versace and Prada bring their A Game to Milan Fashion Week

From 90's supermodels to female cartoonists, Versace and Prada both made huge statements at Milan Fashion Week.

Donatella Versace dedicated the show to her recent brother, Gianni, who was murdered in Miami twenty years ago. After Gianni's passing, Donatella took over the fashion house and definitely delivered in Milan. In tribute to her brother, Donatella compiled prints and patterns that were designed by Gianni in previous collections from the 90's. The collection consisted of leopard, Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe and James Dean prints, and baroque patterns.

The runway show concluded with iconic 90's supermodels walking hand-in-hand down the catwalk with Donatella! Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Helena Christensen, and Carla Bruni all wore floor-length gold dresses and a voice announced, "Gianni, this is for you" as the curtain rose to reveal the models. Everyone was floored to see these icons walk once again!

Miuccia Prada’s SS'18 collection slayed the runway! The space of the event covered its walls with comic book and manga illustrations that were all drawn by female artists. Some of the artists included Wonder Woman comic book illustrator Trina Robbins, Canadian artist for Saga comics Fiona Staples, and manga artist Natsume Ono.

These inspiring female artists allowed Prada to use their illustrations as prints on their clothing! Leopard, spider, and zebra patterns were paired with oversized art print jackets and knee high socks.

We definitely got the feminist message of the show! Prada's choice to showcase these female artists elevated their bold collection and empowered females everywhere. Prada at MFW could not have been better!
