By: Ingrid Kwong It’s not unheard of for bridal boutiques in China to charge try-on fees to avoid counterfeiters from looking at the dresses for knock-off purposes. These types of practices are also common to keep out shoppers who try on gowns with no intention of buying. However, when Vera Wang announced a $500 try-on fee for her Shanghai-based bridal boutique last week, she received a lot of backlash along with accusations of snobbery and prejudice. Earlier today, Wang has decided to abolish that policy, she went on to comment that she wishes that all Vera Wang customers receive the same standard of service excellence worldwide. Treating customers in a fair and equitable way remains her first priority.
