The Divas of Indian Cinema: 100 Years of Beauty and Grace

Written By Antoinette Boachie This year the 12th annual Osians Cinefam Film Festival will dedicate their exhibition to Bollywood's onscreen beauties from the past 100 years.  Titled "The Divas of Indian Cinema: 100 Years of Beauty and Grace",the exhibition will pay homage to these icons for their years of portraying women in their many roles ranging from goddesses to devoted mother and wife.   The exhibition will  travel through time in chronological order showcasing the leading screen icons over the years. To be featured are past onscreen divas  like Waheeda Rehman, Madhubala, Saira Banu, and Meena, to the modern day beauties like Aishwarya Rai, Vidya Balan, Kareena Kapoor and many more.  Through the use of rare artwork including vintage posters, stills, song-synopsis booklets and show cards, the exhibition will recreate the history of Bollywood's onscreen women.

Meena Durairaj known as Meena started her career in 1982 as a child artist in the film Nenjanga.

  Tuli, the founder and Chairman of Osians discussed the rationale behind this year's exhibition theme. According to Tuli, Bollywood Cinema has portrayed every role that women have played in reality - their dances, hairstyles, attitudes to adultery, emancipation, make-up, driving sports cars, stealing, terrorising, killing, gender empowerment and the like in the last 100 years," These icons have portrayed all facets of change which women have experienced in reality. The exhibition will run from July 27 to August 5 in New Delhi .
