Second Earthquake Hits Nepal

Just weeks after an earthquake with a 7.9 magnitude hit Nepal nearly destroying the affected areas, the people of Nepal saw another earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 on Tuesday, May 12. A second tremor of 6.3 magnitude hit 30 minutes later with numerous aftershocks. The main quake was felt as far away as northern India, Tibet, and Bangladesh, and has left at least 65 dead, and nearly 2000 injured with numbers expected to rise. 17 people died in India as a result of the earthquake. The earthquake hit around 76km east of the capital, Kathmandu, about halfway to the town of Namche Bazaar in the Everest Region. Thousands of Nepalis, many of whom had not returned to their homes since the first quake hit spent yet another night in the open. Search and rescue teams who were preparing to leave have resumed work to clear debris, and find victims and survivors of the latest deadly earthquake. nepal pic 2 Our hearts go out to those affected, and our thoughts remain with families who have lost their loved ones in yet another tragic event caused by nature.
