Saks Fifth Avenue has Arrived in Canada!

By Alva Gardner We have HUGE news for you Toronto-based fashionphiles who have been dreaming of having the fabulous fashions of Saks Fifth Avenue a little closer to home because your dreams have become reality; the retailer has announced not one but two Toronto locations to open in Fall 2015. In a press release on Monday by Hudson’s Bay Company  (TSX: HBC)--Sak's parent company--it was announced that the iconic US retail chain is looking to open two Toronto Locations. Their Canadian launch includes a 150,000 square foot space, which will be co-located with the Hudson Bay flagship store in downtown Toronto and another store in Toronto’s Sherway Gardens in the west end. The Eaton Centre area looks set to have its hands full of retailers venturing north in the coming years, as Nordstrom last week announced a 213,000 square foot flagship due to open its doors in Fall 2016. The retail giant also announced an opening at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. Bets are already on how soon the first full line Neiman Marcus stores will open in Canada, following partial acquisition of the firm late last year by the Canada Pension Plan. The US to Canada retail migration might shed light on the Holt Renfrew/ Oglivy partnership announced in late 2013.A bronze plaque identifies the Hudson's Bay Company flagship store in Toronto in this file photo
