It is not a regular case when you hear the news that high fashion brands are engaged in social advocacy. However, it is not a first time when an outstanding luxury brand such as Gucci is reacting on the prominent social issue. In 2013 Gucci has launched Chime For Change a global campaign to unite and speak out for girls and women around the world.

Now Gucci is donating $500,000 to the March of Our Lives. The March of Our Lives has been recently organized by student activists in response to the massive Parkland, Florida school shootings that took away 17 lives of their classmates and teachers. According to the Business of Fashion reports, Gucci is sending an envoy to the March on behalf of the company. March student members are courageous and are motivating people not to stay indifferent to the vital social problems. Likewise, they have recently released a firm statement, "In the tragic wake of the seventeen lives brutally cut short in Florida, politicians are telling us that now is not the time to talk about guns. March For Our Lives believes the time is now."

Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele showed an additional support for the young people by making a statement against gun violence."I am truly moved by the courage of these students," he said. "My love is with them and it will be next to them on March 24. I am standing with March for Our Lives and the strong young women and men across the United States who are fighting for their generation and those to come," said Michele.
