A Prayer for Nepal

Our hearts go out to all those affected by the devastation caused by the Himalayan earthquake last Saturday. The images coming in from Nepal are nothing but heart-breaking. The powerful earthquake measured 7.9 on the Richter scale with several aftershocks and  tremors coming in till late yesterday. The affected region has turned to rubble also disrupting the work of rescue workers and aid organisations that have been coming in from all corners of the world. Nepal's worst affected area is the epicentre in Lamjung, a small town which is 40 km from Kathmandu city, spanning to Northern India and parts of China. The death toll is rising as  rescue workers struggle to get aid to those affected.

It’s hard to believe that the World heritage site Dharahara Tower, Pashupatinath Hindu shrine and the Historic Durbar Square are now history. The loss is irreparable.

Our thoughts remain with the families who have lost their near and dear ones in this unexpected fury of nature. SHE Canada stands by Nepal during these tough times.
