Met Gala 2015 – Best Dressed

Fashion’s most coveted event, the Met Gala, took place Monday night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This year’s theme was “China: Through the Looking Glass,” celebrating the new exhibition curated by Andrew Bolton, with art direction by Wong Kar-Wai. The exclusive event boasted some of entertainment’s most notorious figures in attendance, all turning heads with their remarkable ensembles.

Deep red and shimmery golds were all the rage, coming out as the dominant colour scheme of the night.

While everyone was dressed to the nines, we list our top 4 looks from this year’s Met Gala:

If anyone knows how to make an entrance, it’s Rihanna. Her canary yellow fur trimmed cape, elaborately embellished with gold floral patterns, came complete with a pink mini dress underneath. The tremendous train that trailed behind Rihanna was the most talked about aspect of the piece, put together by Chinese designer, Guo Pei, whose designs are currently on display at the Costume Institute’s exhibition. Her modern copper toned bob and gold headpiece really worked to tie the entire piece together, awarding Rihanna the most original look of the night.

Kate Hudson stunned the crowd with a slim-fitting gold gown by Michael Kors, accompanied by elegant jewelry by Lorraine Shwartz. The actress paired the glamorous pieces with a sleek topknot and a radiant gold headpiece, corresponding well with the theme of the event.

Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé both sported sheer gowns, however all eyes were on Beyoncé as soon as she stepped foot on the red carpet. Her custom-made Givenchy Haute Couture gown was ultra-sheer, embellished with multi-coloured gemstones in just the right places. A sleek back high pony paired with her usual Queen Bee confidence landed Beyoncé on our best-dressed list.

Last but certainly not least, Met Gala novice, Gigi Hadid, wowed the crowd in a low cut Diane Von Furstenberg dress and matching Christian Louboutin shoes. The model looked particularly stunning in this DVF dress, with the top portion comprising of delicate red lace, while the long skirt incorporated a high slit for added impact. Her fresh-faced makeup complimented her natural beauty, while perfect beach waves cascaded gracefully down her back. Showing just the right amount of skin, modern sophistication was Gigi’s strong suit seeing she killed it the first time she walked the Met Gala’s red carpet.
