Karl Lagerfield To Bring Chanel Show To Dubai

Chanel's 2014/2015 Cruise collection, usually launched in between the two main seasonal collections for spring/summer and fall/winter, will premiere in Dubai this May. Chanel is known for travelling to a different country each year for its show so it was only fitting that the Middle East's most stylish city was chosen this year. “Since 2000, Chanel’s collections have been travelling around the world – from Paris to New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Venice, Saint Tropez, Cap d’Antibes, Versailles and Singapore,” it said in a statement. “A futuristic megalopolis of the 21st century, the ever-developing emirate of Dubai is a crossroads of civilisations between Europe and Asia.” With the development of Dubai's Design District, also known as D3, it makes the perfect setting for Chanel's Cruise collection. Speaking of D3, the first phase of the project is set to be completed by January 2015. You can bet that Dubai will be looked to serve as a setting for many more international fashion events in the future. In October 2010, Karl Lagerfeld also announced plans to create his own fashion island, 20 miles off the coast of Dubai, named the Isla Moda. It is hoped that the project will be completed this year. What a year it will be for Chanel and Dubai! Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Chanel, stated: "Chanel is very pleased to present its 2014-15 Cruise collection in Dubai. In addition to being a key hub for our Fashion business in the Middle East, Dubai was chosen because it inspires travel and evokes the true spirit of Cruise. The show that we will hold in this city on May 13th, in the presence of Karl Lagerfeld, will be a unique event that will feed the public's imagination around our brand." Information on the VIP guest list has not yet been mentioned, but expect to see the biggest fashion heads from around the world at the Cruise show.
