Japanese Manga the Way Karl Lagerfeld Envisioned

In anticipation for Karl Lagerfeld's collaboration with Shu Uemura, we discovered Lagerfeld's latest creation -- his own version of Japanese manga. Lagerfeld told WWD, "I wanted to invent my own personal vision of a Japanese manga." and once you see the video, you too will fall in love with his creativity. We reported a couple of months ago that Lagerfeld uses Shu Uemura's products in the same way that artists use pencils and pastels; he uses them to sketch his designs. Note that the character in Lagerfeld's uber-short film has red eyes. A Shu Uemura makeup artist toldWWD, "Red is a symbolic colour for Karl Lagerfeld, because he always dreamed of a red eyeshadow to make his sketches. So they created it in this palette for him." The collection will be available in the UK, US, and Canada this coming October, and the prices range from $27 to $85.
