Happy Macaron Day!

988
Quite possibly the world's perfect food, we're celebrating this holiday at the SHE office in a huge way. What's not to love about the pastry that can be mixed and matched in a variety of flavours and colours? Calling the dessert treat photogenic is simply an understatement. Not to be confused with macaroons, macarons originated in Italy by the chefs of the Medicis. When Catherine de Medici married the duc of Orleans, she brought the recipe with her. By 1547 the duc was crowned Henry II, King of France and took the macaron to new heights.  Enough of this history lesson. I have to go back to eating my macarons and for you, dear readers, here are some visuals. Bliss Tree said it best: "They're like the dessert equivalent of kittens."
