The Burberry Prorsum Womenswear Autumn/Winter 2013 show took place yesterday at London Fashion Week, with A-list models walking the runway and celebrities such as Freida Pinto, Michelle Dockery, Kate Beckinsale, Anna Wintour, Rita Ora and a slew of others in attendance except for Romeo Beckham who had a prior engagement-- perhaps school? Christopher Bailey’s latest collection appropriately entitled ‘Trench Kisses’ included models Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne showcasing his pieces. The show featured heart and animal prints to give a fresh twist to the brand’s classic trenches and day wear. Sheer rubber and glossy leather were used to embellish and add a slightly sexy edge to sleeves of trench coats, skirts and tops. There were even bold striped tops and pants that had a preppy flair and were reminiscent of Micheal Kors. Bailey said after the show that he used elegant fabrics such as cashmere and a classic palette of camel, oxblood and white with translucent rubber, leather and bold prints to add contrast to his autumn collection. Another tidbit about the collection is Bailey drew inspiration for the pieces from 1960s call girl Christine Keeler. Keeler’s involvement with Secretary of State John Profumo nearly brought down the government at the time. Now if this doesn’t add a bit of drama and kink to any collection we don’t know what will. Another special highlight of the show came at the end, with British singer Tom Odell performing to add a special emotional quotient to the show.
