Fashion Pakistan Week F/W 2012

By Summun Jafri   Fashion Pakistan Week took place in Karachi’s Pearl Continental Hotel between October 17-20th. This was Fashion Pakistan Council’s fourth time holding the event as a way of supporting and promoting Pakistani designers. The aim of the event is to help Pakistani talent compete on a global scale by establishing new connections, gaining media presence, and catching the attention of South Asian women all around the world. Several Pakistani designers presented their collections this time around, including Misha Lakhani, Maheen Karim, Sanam Chaudhri, Emraan Rajput, and many more. Having such an eclectic range of designers guaranteed that there was something for everyone. Pakistani fashion is evolving so quickly as it’s essential for these designers to keep up with the country’s blossoming fashionistas, as well as Pakistanis abroad. These designers did an excellent job of pushing new trends, as Fall/Winter collections were innovative and even rivalled North America’s top styles. Notable mentions go out to Maheen Karim, who used a beautiful combination of embroidery, studs, and rich fabrics. Her collection was modern, edgy, and fun.

Misha Lakhani presented a collection that women all over the world will surely be dieing to have, as many of the pieces appear to have a simple elegance and are easy to wear. The colour pallet she used is sure to flatter any South Asian skin tone, and her silhouettes are sure to flatter many body types.
