How-to Detox After a Thanksgiving Feast!

2775

It’s the day after thanksgiving. You are still super full from eating all the delicious meats and treats! A detox is just the thing to help cleanse the body and get you out of that food coma. There are so many techniques and practices around but here is step-by-step guide to easily and effectively detox.

1. Exfoliate.

Start your morning with an exfoliating cold shower! Nothing is more of a wake up than hopping into the shower and feeling the water all around. The cold water will improve circulation of your blood. Take it up a notch and do a face and body scrub to help detox your lymphatic system. The exfoliation will also get you a new smooth layer of skin!

2. Fun with Fluids.

It is key to be drinking lots and lots of water to flush all the toxins out of your body. However, adding some flavour to your water can increase your chances to a better state. Mixing one tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar with 8 ounces of water will work on a sluggish digestive system. Apple Cider Vinegar is a natural antibiotic and antiseptic that fights germs and bacteria. Another way to add fun to your water is herbal tea with lemon and honey! Green tea is best for its cleansing benefits by improving liver detoxification, reducing blood sugar levels and relieving digestive gases. The lemon kick starts digestion and the honey is just for the sweetness!

3. Go Outside.

It is so easy to just lay in bed and do nothing after a Thanksgiving meal. However, it is best to go get fresh air and take a walk for 30 minutes. Walk your dog, or with family to bring oxygen levels up and bring blood sugar levels down. Doing some sort of physical activity will elevate your heart rate and pump extra blood to get rid of toxins. Wear a cute exercise outfit to get you in the mood!

4. Probiotics! Probiotics! Probiotics!

After exerting yourselves, you might be a little hungry. Taking probiotics will help cleanse the body through the gut. Probiotics allow your digestive system to efficiently absorb nutrients and eliminate toxins. If you don’t want to purchase the supplements, probiotics are easily found in everyday foods like yogurt, pickles and some types of cheese like gouda and mozzarella.
