A doer rather than a dreamer, New York based designer Prabal Gurung successfully raised $418,298 for those affected by Saturday’s earthquake in Nepal (amount raised as of yesterday). The earthquake measuring 7.9 on the richter scale has changed the entire topography of the country. Gurung, who is of Nepalese background re-purposed his non-profit “Shikshya Foundation” for education, channeling funds towards the rehabilitation of Nepal and its people since the tragedy occurred. The Council of Fashion Designers, America (CFDA) gave $10,000 while those from the fashion industry in the US, Canada, India and China also reached out in support of the cause. Actions do speak louder than words, and Gurung’s have made everyone in the fashion industry take a moment to reflect. We laud the designer’s efforts!
