Backstage at MasterCard Fashion Week, Dixon told the Toronto Star that although this was his first bridal collection, he had already created gowns for family members and friends. Dixon commented that one of his biggest challenges was that he had to consider elements that were vastly different from his previous collections. For example, the gown goes beyond fabric because you were also threading your client’s dreams and aspirations into the dress. He drew inspiration from his own mother’s wedding and from the gowns he had previously created. Dixon’s mission was to create gowns that were an extension to women’s personalities. Although there were a number of fitted dresses, his collection contained a variety of styles in order to compliment various perspectives. Dixon wanted to incorporate the personalities of the traditional woman, the modern woman, and the romantic. Along with this new accomplishment, later this year Dixon will be celebrating another milestone. Dixon will be celebrating his 20th anniversary in the fashion industry.
