Chanel’s Fall Ready-to-wear collection 2013 at Paris Fashion Week

The theme of yesterday’s Chanel Fall 2013 runway show at the Grand Palais was all about celebrating the brand’s global reach. With Daft Punk’s “Around the World” in the background, and a giant globe spinning center stage with tiny illuminated CC logo flags marking Chanel boutiques around the world, the message of the house’s dominance was clear. Karl Lagerfield left the Hula Hoop bag from last season at home this time, instead opting for an 80s look collection that continues to be innovative while maintaining the iconic Chanel aesthetic that loyalists and coming of age woman alike love.
With a front row consisting of Jessica Chastain, French singer Vanessa Paradis and actress/designer Milla Jovovich, guests were treated to a show filled with dark hues, loose silhouettes using sheer fabrics, boxy jackets and knitwear. Models wore thigh-high leather boots draped in chains, A-line tweed jackets with rounded shoulders and small structured handbags.
The show had a youthful yet practical vibe, while preserving the iconic Chanel tailoring. For those who missed the show, check out the images below.
