Beyonce’s Super Bowl Show

By Bonnie Mendez Yesterdays’ Super Bowl half time show was such a mighty spectacle that it was said to have caused a power outage, delaying the game by 35 minutes. Good work Beyonce! After a somewhat controversial lip-synced performance at the Presidential Inauguration , Beyonce’s performance was more than impressive. Wearing a micro dress by little known designer Ruben Singer, she demonstrated once again how strong of a performer she is, and you could tell by the time she was singing Halo she was trying to catch her breath. Beyonce also announced her Mrs. Carter World Tour (with stops in Toronto and Montreal)will be happening this April.  Beyonce’s halftime show started with Crazy In Love escalating from song to song and amazing background effects to later being reunited with her Destiny’s Child band members: Kelly and Michelle, who rocked the show one last time. Many say this has been the best halftime show after last year’s Madonna’s performance and the unsuccessful performance of Black Eyed Peas in 2011. You can also tell Beyonce has been and is always the centre of attention. After all, Kelly and especially Michelle’s microphones were barely on.  Twitter erupted with “Poor Michelle” jokes, reducing the two former Destiny’s Child members to back-up singers, pretty much left out of the spotlight. During Super Bowl Alicia Keys performed the national anthem and Jennifer Hudson sang America the Beautiful with 26 members of Sandy Hook Elementary Chorus, a powerful performance that left the crowd in tears. The students wore green ribbons to commemorate the 20 children who died in the December shooting.
