The world's largest retailer has just shown its rivals that it does not (and will never) fall behind the trend wagon. Today, Walmart has emulated Target and Amazon's moves to be more fashion-forward by releasing four new private-label clothing brands.
Considered the most ambitious clothing launch of the retailer in years, the trendier labels, which include Time and Tru, Terra & Sky, Wonder Nation, and George, will be catering to women, men, and children with items that range from $5 to $30 (US). The brands will be replacing old labels including White Stag, Faded Glory, and George's for women.
Leading companies Target and Amazon were the first to amp up their clothing line game by expanding their market in order to increase profit margins. Target has launched a children's brand call Cat & Jack, which was a success as indicated by sales last July, as well as a home decor line called Pillowfort. Amazon, on the other hand, has Lark + Ro, which sells high-quality go-to basics.
