It was a sad day for die hard street wear fans. Yesterday, the men's artistic director Kim Jones, who is known to be the head figure behind Louis Vuitton's street wear innovation, announced that he will be departing the French Fashion house after his last runway show on January 18.
As Louis Vuitton has been noted for its exceptional work bags, small leather goods, and suiting, Jones liberated the company's street wear potential by emphasizing on track suits, sneakers, and graphic tees. Last year's collaboration with Supreme was regarded by most to be the pinnacle of his accomplishments.
His next step is unknown however there are have been a few theories. The most anticipated for is Jones's possible transfer to British luxury fashion label, Burberry after Christopher Bailey exited the company just last year in October. Considering that Jones is a native of England and that Burberry is also exploring the street wear market, this move is believed to be feasible. Other also speculate that the artistic director might move to Italian fashion house, Versace.
Whatever his next act is, we wish him the very best in his future endeavors.
