Favourite looks from NYFW

Following the countless shows seen at New York Fashion Week, there was a lot of diversity and avant-garde fashion that hit the runway this year. Almost every runway show included at least one diverse model and there were more plus size models than ever! It is exciting that the fashion industry is headed in an inclusive direction that embraces all women of colour, gender identity, and size. Chromat's Spring/Summer 2018 collection was one of the most inspiring shows that were seen on the runway, so it definitely goes down as one of our favourite overall looks of the week!

Female explorers were the inspiration behind designer Bibhu Mohapatra's Spring 2018 Ready to Wear Collection. He created a story where a woman explores Japan and takes in the culture and history of the country. A lot of the fabrics used for the pieces were actually from Japan and India. This collection showcases beautiful, feminine dresses with a statement that one could wear at any special occasion.

Ralph Lauren's runway show this year was one that made jaw drops. The show took place in his garage that was filled with his fancy cars, which was the perfect backdrop for his fashion vision. Lauren took his passion for cars and combined it with his eye for fashion, which can be seen in the material and overall "automotive" look of his collection. Bella Hadid stunned everyone in a latex and tulle red hot gown!

Marc Jacobs took us to the tropics for his Spring 2018 collection. The bright colours, exaggerated silhouettes, birkenstocks, and headscarves made this show take the audience on a vacation to a dreamy beach with slight reminders of the classic city girl. Gigi Hadid wore a throwback 80's large plaid jacket with an orange headscarf and blingy sandals.

Our favourite celebrity look goes to... Doutzen Kroes! The former Victoria Secret model and Wonder Woman actress stunned in a sheer paneled turtleneck dress that people are still talking about! She attended the Tom Ford Fashion Show for NYFW.

These were the top looks for NYFW! The shows this time around were full of surprises and unique ideas that the designers brought to life on the runway. Diversity and girl power were definitely themes that won't be forgotten at this year's NYFW.
