Another year, another memorable night for the Canadian music industry at the Juno Awards in Vancouver, BC's Rogers Arena on Sunday night. From the reunion of the Quebec band, Barenaked Ladies to the tribute to late Gord Downie, Here are the other highlights from the show:
Singer-songwriter, Michael Buble, hosted the show and announced the pregnancy of his wife, Luisinana Lopilato expecting their third child.
The member's of the Arcade Fire began the show with their energizing performance of their single, "Everything Now" while sporting their Canadian tux double denim outfits. The band also took home this years's Album of the Year award.
Other performances included, Hamiltown's rock band, Arkells, performing their hit single, "Knocking At the Door", and Jessie Reyez who won Breakout Artist of the Year, performing her song "Figures" alongside singer-songwriter and also winner of the night for the R&B/soul recording of the year for his album Freudian, Daniel Caesar.
The show also paid tribute to the late front man of The Tragically Hip, Gord Downie, who took home the Artist of the Year award. The tribute centered on raising awareness for Indigenous rights, something that Downie was passionate about until his death; Downie died late last year after his battle from brain cancer.
Other winners included the Barenaked Ladies who took home the Hall of Fame award, Shawn Mendes who won the Fan Choice award and the Single of the Year award for "There's Nothing Holding Me Back", Breakthrough Group of the Year went to The Beaches, and Diana Krall won the Vocal Jazz Album and Producer of the Year awards.
