Everyone knows that many men grow a moustache for the month of November, but how many know the history behind the stache?
The Movember Foundation was created in 2003 in Australia to raise awareness for men's health issues, such as prostate and testicular cancer and mental health. The foundation has also been aiming to reduce the number of men that are dying at such a young age. The Movember Foundation announced that Canada was the number one nation to contribute to the charity! Canada alone has raised $296,024,935 since 2003! Countless countries have also jumped on the campaign including Hong Kong, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, the Unites States and many others.
The Movember Foundation is ranked one of the highest NGO charities in the world! Since its birth, over 1,200 men's health projects have been funded since 2003. Both men and women can participate in raising money for the charity by being active in a project called Move. All participants have to do is set a distance goal by running, walking, cycling, or swimming, whether it be a solo or team effort. Participants can also check out fun ways to style a mustache and grooming techniques that can be used for upkeep on the Moustache Canada website. Make sure to check out more details about the campaign online to join in on the fight for men's health.
