The recently concluded SAG Awards aroused the feminist in all of us, with the prestigious show focusing on the achievements of women as inspired by last year's Women's March. Hosted by Kristen Bell, the indicator event of the Academy Awards had millions of viewers talking further about women empowerment in relation to the #MeToo movement that emerged because of recent sexual misconduct accusations in the entertainment industry. If you missed yesterday's star-studded event, here are some of the major happenings!
1.) Kristen Bell opens the SAG Awards as the official host, marking a major milestone for women in Hollywood.
2.) Nicole Kidman's acceptance speech on encouraging everyone to create an environment in which harassment and abuse are not tolerated.
3.) Morgan Freeman received the Lifetime Achievement Award, as presented by Rita Moreno who received the same honour from Freeman five years ago.
4.) Sterling K. Brown became the first black actor to receive the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Drama Series.
5.) Cancer-stricken Julia Louis-Dreyfus became the most decorated actor in the history of SAG Awards.
6.) Aziz Ansari, who was recently accused of sexual misconduct did not attend the event despite being nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy.
7.) James Franco attended the awards show regardless of sexual misconduct allegations.
