After being a Banana Republic ambassador for several months now, the star of the reality show "The City", Olivia Palermo has finally unveiled her collaboration with the renowned brand at  NYFW, making it a highlight of the Saturday wave of runway shows. The 70-piece capsule collection primarily consisted of long sleeve tops, coats, jackets, and dresses embedded with pleat and flair detailing. Subtle colours were applied to suitably match the fall season. Price frame range from$48 to a little under $1000. The collection doesn't entirely scream avant-garde however Palermo has managed to tweak the simplicity and flexibility of Banana Republic pieces and added her personal "flirty" touch. A definite plus is that the pieces stand out very well on their own especially when toned down with basics. The coats and dresses of the collection even have the potential of being compared to popular luxury brand pieces.

Many pieces also have contrasting details and shades of masculinity which definitely set an outfit apart. The combination of dark colours with conservative pieces allow for a composed and sophisticated look.

Long coats like this one have hints of Balmain-esque elements and the use of bright red immediately dubs it as a statement piece. By: Franz Tabora
