2667

Since this is the first long weekend of the summer it is only appropriate that you celebrate it the right way! Also, it's not just any long weekend, it's Canada's birthday!! This means that there will be loads of celebrations around the city (and, of course, the entire country) but if you're still undecided or are in the middle of planning, here are some of the event happening around the city during the long weekend.

1. Canada Day at Harbourfront Centre: the week long celebrations will include performances from various groups that includes the LGBTQ community and Indigenous groups. The admission for this event is free!

2. Toronto Rib Fest held in Etobicoke for a second time in a row, festival will include ribs (yess!!) and was set to begin on Friday at Centennial Park and runs until Monday. Aside from the many vendors serving ribs, there will also be a fireworks show on Sunday!

3. Canada Day at Queen's Park the celebrations at Queen's Park will happen on Sunday with starting  10 a.m. until 5 p.m. It will include performances and arts and craft for children. This event is free too!

4. Fireworks show Canada Day would not be Canada Day if it weren't for the fireworks show. Here are some of the places you can head to on July 1st to see this spectacular show:

  • Ashbridges Bay: the show will start as soon as the sun sets and it's free admission
  • Downsview Park: If you're more around the North York area, head down to Downsview Park. Celebrations begin at 6 p.m. until 10:30 p.m
  • Mel Lastman Square: celebrations begin at 5 p.m. and will wrap up at around 10:30 p.m.

Enjoy your long weekend and Happy Canada Day!
