Arab Fashion Week began in Dubai last night and brought "ready couture" to the runway. The five-day event will feature 24 designers, some of which have designed for many Hollywood celebrities. The first night kicked off Wednesday and showcased Indian-wear, bold colours, evening gowns, and gorgeous crochet details.
The first show that hit the runway was designed by Lebanon-born Saher Dia. His collection was inspired by old Hollywood from head to toe, which stood out for the rich fabrics and attention to detail. Lebanese designer Aiisha Ramadan, who is known for her embroidery and draping shined with her collection as well. Celebrity clients that often wear her clothing include Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron, and Ariana Grande.
The most anticipated part of the night was the Amato Couture show by Filipino designer Furne One. The theme of the show was fairies go glam, which was inspired by Furne's childhood. Pearls, glitter, holographic headpieces, capes and crochet patterns dominated the catwalk. Beyonce and Katy Perry are among the few celebrities that have been seen wearing Amato on the red carpet!
There are still four days left of Arab Fashion Week! Tony Ward, the famous Italian-Lebanese designer, is presenting his collection in the next few days. In order to see more events and the full schedule visit www.arabfashionweek.org.
