The Invictus Games have been held in London, England and Orlando, Florida, but this year Toronto, Ontario was chosen to host the international sporting event. This Paralympic-style event was created in 2014 by Prince Harry's advisers for sick, wounded or injured veterans and armed service male and female personnel. There are about twelve sports featured, which include archery, indoor rowing, road cycling, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, wheelchair rugby and, recently, golf.
Prince Harry's mission was to celebrate the strength and achievements of these brave heroes and heroines. During his attendance at the USA Warrior Games, Harry saw the psychological and physical benefits that the athletes had after competing, which was when he knew he wanted to start a foundation of his own. The Invictus Games Foundation is also meant to motivate audiences with the fighting spirit of the athletes while developing an appreciation for those who served their particular country. Prince Harry made sure he was present in Toronto for several of the sporting events.
The Invictus, otherwise known as"unconquered", Games has a total of 12 nations competing at Nathan Phillips Square and Toronto's Pan Am Sports Centre. The tickets for the remaining paid and free events are available now until September 30th at http://www.invictusgames2017.com/tickets/.
