The 2017 New York Fashion Week has finally closed its curtains and we are here to provide a quick recap on six key shows that created a statement amongst fashion enthusiasts and the general public. From Alexander Wang's deconstructivist suits to Michael Korr's flirty Malibu inspired beach wear, NYFW 2017 encompassed a wide style span of pieces that were not only avant-garde and size inclusive but also conversation starters in the context of social and political issues. Celebrity models such as Kendall Jenner and the Hadid sisters certainly augmented the hype as they graced on the runway of notorious luxury brands including Tom Ford, Alexander Wang, and Ralph Numerous highly-adhered celebrities have also been spotted including Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Williams, Katie Holmes, and Kate Bosworth.

Alexander Wang - Typically noted for his minimal and monotonous collections, Wang ensured that his pieces for NYWFW 2017 will be entrenched into the minds of both fashion goers and the general public. As if getting models such as Kendall and Bella to represent his pieces wasn't enough to induce conversations, Wang's collection this year entailed deconstructed suits and form-fitting laced dresses that exhibited a rebellious, feminine vibe.

Ralph Lauren - The venue for the high-profile designer's show was his garage which not only showcased his pieces but also his luxury cars. The focus this year was patented leather and silk used for long gowns and racing jackets. The colours that were used paralleled with Lauren's automobiles, which added to the sharp and masculine feel of the collection.

Fenty x Puma - Practically a BMX show, Rihanna's collaboration with Puma certainly made a mark amongst the public in the recent NYFW. The collection was basically sportswear for biking, swimming, and scuba diving. Strong bold and contrasting colours were applied to exert a particular statement from such basic pieces.

Michael Kors - Kors's Malibu inspired collection has certainly made it hard for viewers to transition into the colder seasons. Tree prints and pastel colours were the primary features, applied to slip dresses and oversized women's suits.

Marc Jacobs - A lot of aesthetically pleasing elements require highlighting in Marc Jacob's spring 2018 collection. Floral and geometric prints were loud enough to make viewers forget about the silent show. Silk turbans, oversized flowers, and sequinned dresses also took over the runway, ultimately yielding an exotic, multicultural, and feminist vibe.

Oscar De La Renta - De La Renta's work for the spring of 2018 stood as an overall appreciation for the numerous celebrities that have represented the brand throughout the years. Dresses consisted of signature prints with embedded paint splatters to offer some statement. The oversized pieces particularly blazers and pants reminisced the vibe of De La Renta's 90s collections.
