All those anticipating a long-winded, drama filled, bitter divorce between Kate Holmes and Tom Cruise received word this morning that it won’t be after all. Today, just two weeks after Holmes filed for divorce, Katie’s lawyer confirmed that the two have settled their divorce privately and amicably.
In a statement, New Jersey divorce lawyer Jonathan Wolfe wrote, “The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.”
Since the divorce was announced on June 28th, rumours have been swirling surrounding the custody of daughter Suri and conflict with Scientology fuling Kates decision to file for divorce. However, do not anticipate a tell-all anytime soon revealing the truth from either party as both have vowed to remain private and keep Suri’s best interest in mind as discussed in their joint statament released early this morning.
“We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests," the couple told E! News this morning in a statement released through their reps. "We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents.”
The couple married in 2006 after a whirlwind romance, and have a 6-year old daughter names Suri.
Best of luck to the both of them.
