It seems that the departure of British singer and songwriter Zayn Malik from the boy band One Direction has been a blessing in disguise, revealing fans his different sides and span of vocal capabilities from the release of his recent of R&B compositions. The heartthrob has just unveiled the official music video of his new single "Dusk Till Dawn" offering a solid glimpse of his maturity, "swag", and even action capabilities.  The song's overall theme may seem to cliche for many however the action packed music video directed by the notorious Marc Webb does reset the bar to a high point generating a sense of equivalence that should still keep fans emotionally attached to the song. The general vibe of the music video is matured. The constant change of moody scenes in the beginning adds to the intensity, and also provides slight foreshadowing on the events that are to unfold throughout, which consists of car chasing, interrogation, and exploding firearms. The main characters in the music video, Zayn and the seemingly disguised actress Jemima Kirke seem to be involved in some kind of conspiracy in which they successfully lead the enemies into their demise. In the end, we see the two drive away together which seem to ultimately live up to the song's key theme. The song is overall satisfactory. The lyrics are quite acknowledgeable and does not require meticulous filtration to understand the principal message. The repetition in the chorus may seem superfluous but then again, one should not expect too much as the song was written by two major pop super stars. The melody may be paralleled with many of the Weekend's hits which we all know have been in the trend wagon for a while therefore the song should become a major hit in radio stations anytime soon. As stated above, the well-produced music video does exhibit a n unrealized perspective of Zayn, which still sets him apart from the others. By: Franz Tabora
