It is Chanel's sixteenth Métiers d'Arts runway show which takes place in a different venue every year which relates to Coco Chanel and honours the craftsmanship behind the brand's signature pieces. However, it is the first time that Karl Lagerfeld, the head designer of Chanel, had the opportunity to host the glamorous event in his hometown of Hamburg, Germany. The event took place in the famous Elbphilarmonie concert hall, where a live orchestra played as the models walked the runway.

The theme of the show was inspired by Germany in the 1960's. The overall look created by Karl was sailor-themed and featured nautical knits and "elbeseglers," which translates to "sailor caps." This signature accessory of the show had tulle, embroidery, sequins or brooches to complete a classy sailor look! Some of Hollywood's A-listers also attended the event including Tilda SwiftonKristen Stewart and Lily-Rose Depp.

Karl closed the show by appearing alongside his nine-year-old grandson in matching sailor-inspired outfits! The designer kept the traditional Chanel look, but added contemporary elements with a fun theme and vibrant colours, which everyone loved!
