What We Can Expect From the Upcoming Met Gala

2932

The past Met Galas have been extraordinary, with many of today's most in-demand celebrities full out embracing the tradition of costuming in the most avant-garde and sophisticated way. Every year, the Costume Institute hosts the "Superbowl" of fashion that is backed by a distinct theme at one of the world's largest and finest art museums, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. From Rihanna's famous "omelette" gown of 2015 to Cara Delevingne's extraterrestrial get-up at last year's event, fans of high fashion and the fine arts as well as the general public just cannot get enough of these intriguing yet mesmerizing looks!

This year, it has been revealed that Rihanna and Amal Clooney will be hosting the ball, alongside Donatella Versace who will be attending to the in-coming guests on the red carpet. Last year's event was presented by Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams.

The highly anticipated theme that will bring out this year's aesthetic glam is Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. The curator of the fashion exhibit Andrew Bolton seeks to demonstrate how "material Christianity" has helped for the "Catholic imagination". Vogue reports that the exhibit will consist of pieces by the famous monastery-nurtured fashion designer and businesswoman Coco Chanel and ex-head designer of Christian Dior, John Galliano, who was noted for the papal vestments of his Fall 2000 couture collection.

Combining religion and high fashion, this is definitely an event that may surpass standard levels of fascination.
