HBO Hackers Threaten to Leak Game of Thrones’ Unaired Episode Scripts

2043
When it comes to TV shows there are decidedly two camps, those who watch Game of Thrones (GoT) and those who don’t. HBO’s most-watched, most expensive show has legions of fans who wait with bated breath for another season or episode to get their fix of what is happening in the world of Westeros.

As July ended, news broke of the network being under a massive cyberattck. Hackers have claimed access to 1.5 TB of raw HBO data, including scripts of the famed show. The hackers have already leaked script of the upcoming fifth episode of the season (to go on air August 13) with a ransom note to the network’s presient and CEO Richard Plepler, asking for $6 million in bitcoins.

“Our demand is clear and Non-Negotiable: We want XXXX dollars to stop leaking your Data. HBO spends $12 million for Market Research and $5 million for ‘GOT7? advertisements. So consider us another budget for your advertisements!” the note said.

HBO has been given a deadline of three days to transfer the funds.

The hackers insist they are ‘white hats’ and not criminals for whom this is a game.

“Money isn’t our main purpose. We don’t want to endanger HBO’s situation nor cause it to lose its reputation. We want to be your partner in a tiny part of HBO’s huge income,” the hackers were quoted as saying.

In other news, Buzzfeed has recently discovered that the cape worn by Jon Snow and his troops in the North is actually an IKEA sheepskin rug.

Michele Clapton, lead costume designer at the show shared that the costume designing team takes anything they can, cut, shave, add leather straps and give it a worn appearance. In this case it was a rug to keep men from the Night Watch warm.
