The Man himself – Mr. Louboutin Exhibition By Jennifer Naraine “ As a designer, my inspiration has remained the same over twenty years but there has been a revolution in the design of the shoe. During the first ten years, I was creating shoes that were much more sexy. This is really the “Yin” and “Yang” of my work- to combine sexiness with elegance. “ –C.L As we have all developed a love and obsession with this particular French footwear designer who has created this signature shoe of red lacquered soles and shiny dazzled toes, Toronto has been privileged this month to experience and be welcomed into the world of Christian Louboutin starting June 21st to September 1st 2013 at the Design Exchange building. Not only do we get to drool over his spectacular looking shoes but also get a deep look into his personal life from when he started out in Paris and traveled through India as he had a fascination with Bollywood and what it could offer him as inspiration. Louboutin first started out in 1994 opening his first boutique in New York designing shoes in 2002 for the Yves Saint Laurent couture show, he single-handedly brought stilettos back into fashion in the 1990s and 2000s. Christian Louboutin had one goal, to create something that broke rules and made women feel confident and empowered. As you scope out the room of the exhibition and all of Louboutin's accomplishments, it's not only beautiful to look at, but incredible how these pieces of art can tell a story.
