Rashida Jones and her reason behind leaving “Toy Story 4”

2822

Rashida Jones, a notable writer of the upcoming animated movie, clarifies why she has left the Pixar company along with her writing partner William McCormack. She denies initial claims of her departure due to "unwanted advances" by Pixar co-founder John Lasseter.

In a statement that was released on Tuesday via New York Times, Jones and McCormack assert that the reason behind their exit was to due to "creative and philosophical differences", claiming that Pixar does not hire enough women and people of colour, particularly in the creative department.

Toy Story 4 is set to be released in the summer of 2019. The duo has been writing the film since 2014, differentiating it from the original trilogy by rerouting the plot towards a new direction.
