Lacoste adopts temporary logos to raise awareness for endangered species


French retailer Lacoste is advocating for animal welfare through its clothes; but not by refraining from fur usage.

While high end brands such as Gucci and Michael Kors are joining the fur-free wagon this year, Lacoste has decided to raise awareness for endangered species, by temporarily replacing its iconic crocodile logo on their signature polos with images of 10 endangered species. This is the first time the prominent label is replacing its logo with other animals.


Through a partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the clothing company released 1775 polos in which the number of shirts of each animal logo corresponds to the actual population of that animal. The collection, which is part of the "Save Our Species", campaign was sold out during Paris Fashion Week on March 1.

Proceeds went to the international organization, who continuously works to counter the threat of extinction and protect nature.
