Zara, the flagship brand of the Spanish fashion retailer Inditex, has opened its largest Indian store in Mumbai. The five storey store is in a 110 year old building in South Mumbai and is a whopping 51,300 sq ft. The company is also preparing to launch its online store in India by the end of 2017.

Inditex has a total of 8 brands internationally, and entered India with Zara in 2010. It currently has 20 stores in the country. The company also launched its brand Massimo Dutti in India last year with two stores. The Zara architectural team worked with Indian architects to try and capture Indian heritage in their new store. They have done similar heritage stores in Japan, Spain, Rome and Russia.

India is one of the fastest growing luxury markets in the world and IBEF has forecasted it to be the 12th largest luxury retail market by 2020.
